Born in Bradenton, FL and raised in Columbus, Mr. Trest was the son of the late Fred I. Trest and Jeanne V. Newton Trest. A very patriotic citizen and lover of his country, he was a United States Navy veteran where he served as a seaman and U.S. Pharmacist Mate on the USS Intrepid. While in the Navy, he played in the Naval Orchestra and at President John F. Kennedy’s funeral. Mr. Trest was a 1968 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy and worked as a pharmacist for over 50 years. He was an avid golfer, loved music and traveling, especially to the beach.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Trest was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Amelia “Mimi” Nelms Trest.
Survivors include children: Jeff Trest of Statham, Frank Trest of Athens and Juliana Trest of Raleigh, NC; brother, Fred A. Trest (Yvonne) of Augusta; sister, Miriam Putnam (Dr. Wayne) of Springfield, MO; grandchildren: Steven Trest, Clay Trest, Anna Trest, Griffin Trest and Chase Trest.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 26, at 2:00 p.m., in the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Lawson officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
