Geraldine May Akey Dailey

Geraldine May Akey Dailey, 93, of Athens, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018.

A native of Grand Junction, CO and formerly of Cleveland, OH, Mrs. Dailey was a daughter of the late Lloyd Vance Akey and Geneva Gill Akey. She was a World War II nurse where she met her future husband of 63 years, the late John Joseph Dailey Jr., who was a Naval aviator. A resident of Athens since 1972, she was the longtime parish secretary and member at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also active in St. Joseph Charities. Mrs. Dailey was an avid golfer, traveler and enjoyed working crossword puzzles.

Survivors include children, William John Dailey of Athens, Theresa Ann Brown (Stephen) of Delaware, OH, Donald Joseph Dailey (Mary Jo) of Gates Mills, OH, Thomas Michael Dailey (Patty Robins) of Greensboro and Stephen Patrick Dailey (Donna S.) of Madison; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 27 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Charities, 958 Epps Bridge Parkway, Athens, GA 30606 or the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642.

Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dear Dailey Family,,,,,,, So very sorry to see that your Mom passed away,,,,,,We have such wonderful memories of her and the "gang" on Valleyview!
My brothers and I are well and still live in Lake Co. Ohio....
Our parents have been gone for ten years.
