

Girlette Jackson, affectionately called Ms. Jackie, was born to Eugenie Watson and Franklyn Jackson on June 1, 1929 in Portland, Jamaica. She migrated to London and studied nursing at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital. She worked as a registered nurse, specializing in midwifery. She also graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She worked in various hospitals in London and Canada. She retired from Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, NY after over 25 years of service.
Ms. Jackie died on October 20, 2018 in Athens, GA, where she resided since 2008.
She is survived by her brothers, Barry and Lloydel Wint and other relatives. She is predeceased by her sisters, Joyce and Cynthia and two brothers, Reynard and Vincent.
Ms. Jackie was a very special person. She believed in her own words, “life to me is a stage of progression and changes. I believe that one should find their own “nitch”, continue to improve on what you do in the best possible way, striving not only for today but for the future. Always remember to lend a helping hand when you can. Be hopeful and yes, say a little prayer.” She will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering support of her family and friends and her love of nature.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Bernstein Funeral Home from 9:30am to 10:00am. A funeral service will follow at 10am in the funeral home chapel.
