

Born in Monroe, Georgia, he was the son of the late Montine and Truman Reeves, Sr. He graduated from Monroe High School, where he was voted MVP of his 1959 football team. He lettered in football at Gordon Military College and later attended the University of Georgia.
Perry moved to Athens in 1968 and founded Athens Pawn Shop, Inc.
Some of his most fond memories were in the 70’s when he coached youth football and senior league baseball teams to five championships. Through the years he especially enjoyed his family, friends golfing, fishing, hunting and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lorey Hale Reeves; son, Greg Reeves; daughter and son-in-law Penni and Tim Deaton; step-daughters, Michelle Burger and Meredith Busch and sister, Mary Frances Schanake. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Mary Alex Reeves, Brooks Reeves, Chandler Reeves, Sidney Elizabeth Reeves, Joseph Deaton, Ivey Deaton, and Emma Kate Burger.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 15 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home, 3195 Atlanta Highway in Athens.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 15 at 4 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park, 3655 Atlanta Highway in Athens.
