Harvey Joel Archer

A native of Jackson County, Mr. Archer was the son of the late Fred Long Archer and Kate Simms Archer Wheless. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and was employed with Eli Whit - Hav A Tampa here in Athens for over 42 years. Mr. Archer was a mason, shriner, and long time member and former deacon of Attica Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Eloise Shields Archer of Athens, daughters Rita Archer Duke and husband Gary and Becky Archer Harris and husband Rick all of Athens, brother Billy Wheless of Winterville and sister Joyce Adams of Athens, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11AM Sunday, July 3rd, at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Purcell and Clint Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 3rd from 10-11am at Bernstein Funeral Home.
