

She was born August 9, 1921 in Macon, Georgia to Wiley and Trudia Jordan. She grew up in Macon, Ga. and graduated from Miller High School in Macon, GA. She attended University of GA in 1940. She later received her honorary Doctoral Degree in Nutrition from Donsbach University.
Helen married Otis C. (O.C.) Howington August 16, 1941. They were happily married 72 years.
Helen is a Christian first and active servant for Her Lord at Forest Heights Baptist Church where she taught the Friendship Bible Class for several years. She had a passion to share her faith with others. She loved flowers, especially orchids, and just “playing in the dirt”.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Wiley and Trudia Jordan; Brother Pete Jordan of Macon, Georgia.
Helen is survived by her husband Otis C. (O.C.) Howington; daughter Pat H. Johnson and husband, Rex Johnson of Watkinsville, GA and son Bobby Howington and wife, Dianne H. Howington of Watkinsville, GA; her grandchildren Tonia Askew, Robert Askew, David Howington and Christopher and wife Leandra Howington, her great grandchildren Nicky Williams, Melissa Fitzpatrick, and Georgia Howington; great great grandchildren Taylin, Brennin, Brogan, Maddie, and C.J. and other nieces and nephews, and her daughter in Christ, Carletta Brown, who loved and cared for her.
A Service to celebrate her life will be held at Forest Heights Baptist Church, 1155 Oglethorpe Ave., Athens, GA Saturday September 7,2013 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at Bernstein’s Funeral Home in Athens, Georgia on Friday evening September 6, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00PM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Forest Heights Baptist Church, or Gideon’s International.
