

She was born in Seattle, Washington on July 31, 1936, to Grace and Virgil Scott, who predeceased her. Helen graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle in 1955. She also received a degree in Business Administration from City University in Seattle. She worked with The Kellogg Co. in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Later, she moved back to Seattle and had a long and distinguished career in Human Resources.
Helen married J. Wayne Maxey on May 9, 1971, in Reno, Nevada. They spent 40+ years in Seattle and then retired to Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Wayne predeceased her on April 20, 2026. Helen was a believer in Jesus Christ and looked forward to heaven.
She is survived by her brother, Virgil and wife, Glenna Scott; brother, Ernest “Ernie” and wife, Jean Scott; brother, Sam and wife, Cherie Scott; a brother-in-law, Michael G. and wife, Debra Posey Maxey; nephew, James M. Maxey; and nephew, Joseph “Joe” G. and wife, Katherine Poss Maxey; grandniece, Sarah Collier Maxey; and grandnephew, Robert “Beau” Wyatt Maxey.
Helen is predeceased by brothers: John Scott and James Scott.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., in Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens, Georgia.
