A native of Athens, Elaine was the daughter of her late father, Jim Hudson and her mother, Joyce Day Sundling. She was a 1975 graduate of Clarke Central High School, and a 1980 graduate of the University of Georgia where she was a loyal member of the Phi Mu Sorority.
Survivors include mother, Joyce Day Sundling; husband, John Michael Tillman; brother, Jamie Hudson, his wife, Melanie and their two daughters, Amber and Charlotte; sister, Binky Hudson Cole and her husband, Mark Cole; nephew, Robert Christopher Grell, his children, Everly Mae and Jimmy; mother-in-law, Ruby Tillman; stepsister, Mary Lou Anglin.
Elaine was preceded in death by her father, Jim Hudson and sister, June Hudson Grell.
Blessed to join the Tillman family in 2008, she loved her bonus daughters, Andrea, Emily and Samantha and loved being a grandmother to Kyleigh, John, Luke, Kinsey, Nathaniel and Julian.
After God, Elaine’s family and friends were the most important things in her life. Elaine was so blessed that even in sickness, her trust and faith in God never wavered. She continued to encourage her friends and family to keep their faith in God also.
Elaine served as Secretary of Vestry at St. Stephen’s Anglican Catholic Church, where she was a member for over 25 years. She was a member and core leader of the Community Bible Study. She served as Chapter Advisor and Alumni President of Phi Mu Sorority and she served on the board of United Way where she was presented with the Helping Hand award. She served on the board of Project Safe, President of Town and Country Garden Club, the board of the YWCO, and was a sustaining member of Athens Junior League. Elaine worked for Performance Food Group as a Sales Representative and retired after 19 years of employment.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Anglican Catholic Church. The family will receive friends in the Parish Hall for one hour prior from 10-11 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
