

Helen Gunter Williams of Athens passed away on June 30, 2015 of natural causes where she was in residence at North Ridge Medical Center. She was 89. Mrs. Williams worked at Thomas Textile prior to a 17 year career as a cosmetician and the eventual owner of Merle Norman Cosmetics in the Georgetown Shopping Center. Many people will remember her as the friendly face that greeted diners at Charlie Williams Pinecrest Lodge for over two decades. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Garnett Williams and her youngest son, Phillip Curtis Williams. She is survived by her 2 children, Harry Michael Williams (Peggy Sue), Nancy Williams Wojteczko (Paul), her 6 grandchildren, Harry Michael Williams Jr., Robert Randolph Williams (Allison), Patrick Shannon Hodgson Jr. (Lori), Christopher Sean Hodgson, Nanci Williams Bixby (Rob), Matthew Garnett Williams, and 6 great grandchildren, Shannon Michelle Hodgson, Samuel Poss Williams, Megan Caroline Hodgson, Janie Elizabeth Williams, Georgia Shea Williams, and Robert Poss Bixby. She also leaves behind her loving companion of over twenty years, Grady Scott Wilbanks of Commerce. The family would like to express their gratitude to the many loving and compassionate care givers of Northridge Medical Center for their service. Many special thanks to the Affinis Hospice Care for making her last days pleasant and comfortable. A casual graveside memorial service is scheduled for 11:00AM on Thursday, July 2nd at Evergreen Memorial Park located at 3655 Atlanta Highway. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Alzheimer’s Research or the Hospice Care of your choice.
