He was the son of the late Coyle and Voyla Bennett. Rev. Bennett was a minister for more than 30 years. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Other than his parents, Rev. Bennett was predeceased by 4 brothers; George, Ambrose, Edwin and Julian Bennett and a sister Ann Smith.
Rev. Bennett is survived by his wife Jean and children; Marie Chandler (Boyd) of Jefferson, Sharon Presley (Darrel) of Nicholson and Michael Bennett (Candy) of Madison Co. Also, one brother Roger Bennett and 2 sisters Joyce Wilkins of Hull and Sue Campbell from N.C. His grandchildren are Dr. Brittany Chandler, Joshua Presley, Brian Presley, Michael Bennett, Brett Bennett and Cooper Bennett.
Visitation for Rev. Bennett will be Sunday 6-8 pm at Bernstein Funeral Home and the service will be Monday at 2 pm in the Chapel at Bernstein’s. The burial will follow at Center United Methodist Church.
