Hunter Dane Swafford

He was the son of Kevin Swafford and Deanna Swafford. Hunter was a 2020 graduate of Clarke Central High School, where he served as the football team manager for six years. He was an Eagle Scout out of Boy Scout Troop 777, in Hull, GA. Hunter volunteered at local animal shelters and a therapeutic riding center. He also helped coach special needs swimmers at the Athens YMCA. Hunter was known for his servant’s heart and wanted to help everyone he met. He graduated from the vocational programs at Roosevelt Warm Springs in December 2022 and began working as a facilities technician for Athens First United Methodist Church. He loved superheroes and video games and could always make you laugh with his quirky sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.

Hunter was preceded in death by his father.

Hunter is survived by his mother, Deanna Swafford; aunt and uncle, Kristin and Justin Cain-Fitch; maternal grandparents, Bill and Kathy Cain; paternal grandparents, Doug and Joyce Swafford; and great-aunt, Carol Settergren.

A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 11, 2024, in Athens First United Methodist Church. A brief graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 12, 2024, in Yorkville Baptist Cemetery, in Rockmart, GA.
