

Ila grew up in Percival, Iowa, with her three brothers, Dick, Jim, and Bill Haynie. She married Robert William Sutton on June 15, 1952, in Platte City, Missouri. They raised their family in Marion, Iowa, and moved to Olin in the 70s, and eventually retired to Mission, Texas. Throughout her life, she was devoted to her family, her nursing career, and the values of hard work, kindness, and generosity that guided all she did.
A 1952 graduate of the Missouri Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Ila devoted more than four decades to the medical field. She was known for her integrity, tireless work ethic, and compassionate care for her patients, family, and friends.
Her love for family was the center of her life, and she found great joy in the time she shared with those closest to her. Above all else, Ila cherished her family and friends.
Ila is survived by her brother, Bill Haynie of Rhode Island, a daughter, Mary Sutton of Georgia, and a son, Robert Sutton Jr. (Theresa) of North Carolina, as well as three grandchildren: Michael Sutton (Jenni), Mitchell Sutton (Amanda) and Rebecca Cox (Brandon), four great-grandchildren: Jack, Ava, Miles, and Henry Sutton, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers, Dick and Jim Haynie.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 11:00 AM, at the Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, Iowa. Burial will follow at the Sidney Cemetery.
