

Ina Claire was born at home on July 2, 1930 in McAlpin, Florida to the late Jerimiah and Mary Eula Terry Fletcher. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Gene Weekley; brother, Hal Fletcher; and sisters, Geraldine Vann and Hilda Glass.
She attended school through 8th grade in the small community of McAlpin, Florida and graduated from Suwanee County High School in 1946 as salutatorian of her class.
At age 18, she attended an Army Ball at the local Armory where she met her future husband, Gene. They married in April 1949. Gene's work brought them to Athens in 1953 where they raised their family.
Ina Claire was a member of Athens First United Methodist Church where she spent many active years on the Altar Guild, UMW, and teaching Sunday school. In past years, she was a member of DAR, YWCO Board, Road Runners, Bobbin Mill Garden Club, and Athens Symphony Guild.
She had a great love for Bridge. She greatly enjoyed her Bridge groups, Bridge trips, and friendships. She was a member of the Athens Duplicate Bridge Club. She was a Silver Life Master.
Ina Claire is survived by her four sons, Ken Weekley (Melton), Bruce Weekley (Bonnie), John Weekley (Jackie), and Tom Weekley; daughter, Alice King (Nathan); 11 grandchildren, Leigh Anne (Casey), Dax (Jill), Brian (Kara), Jimmy (Melanie), Taylor (Amy), Nate (Tabiatha), Kristy, Lorraine, Jay (Lydia), Kimsey (Tanner), and Morgan; 20 great-grandchildren. Mom, Mema, Ina Claire will be missed by all who knew her and were blessed by her.
The family wishes to thank Arnold's Home Healthcare for their loving care and special thanks to Patricia, Ashley, Angela, Semaria, and the numerous other caregivers she has had over the past years. Also, thank you to Kindred Hospice for their compassionate care.
A Graveside Service to Celebrate Ina Claire’s life will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at the Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev. Martha Aenchbacher officiating.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ina Claire's memory to the Athens First United Methodist Church, 327 N. Lumpkin Street, Athens, GA 30601; or a charity of your choice.
