Jack David Mouilso, 76, of Athens, Georgia, passed away on February 1, 2026, at his home after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and related complications. His loving wife, Renee, was by his side.
Born in Detroit, Jack was the oldest child of John “Jack” and Vitala (née Rosiecki) Mouilso. As a kid, Jack doted on his younger sister, Jennifer, and learned love, kindness, respect, and responsibility from his parents. In his school years, he excelled in athletics and spare time was spent working on a never-ending list of home improvement projects alongside his dad.
After graduating from Michigan’s Berkley High School, Jack served in the Marine Corps for four years. He completed boot camp as the Honor Graduate of his platoon and was stationed throughout Europe and South America on Naval vessels as a sergeant.
Jack graduated from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, in 1979 and was married to the “exceedingly smart and attractive” Renee on April 5, 1982. They had two daughters together, Emily and Natalie.
Jack was a member of the Ironworkers Union Local 8 for more than 50 years. He completed innumerable construction projects throughout the country, sometimes working more than a mile in the air. Later in life, Jack stayed closer to the ground as a construction superintendent. In retirement, Jack and Renee relocated to Athens, GA, after 35 years in East Troy, WI.
Jack’s analytical mind made him a natural problem-solver and, even in his later years, he continued working to make the world around him better. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Jack’s family was his absolute greatest joy and the center of his world. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, warm nature, endless generosity, and larger-than-life presence: our very own Superman.
Jack is survived by his wife, Renee Mouilso (née Naimon); his daughters, Emily (Eric) Linder and Natalie (Nicholas Reiter) Mouilso; grandsons, Aaron, David, Kenji, Noa; his sister, Jennifer (Donald) Schmidt; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jack’s family would like to acknowledge the extraordinary compassion and care he received from Agnes, Elenor, Jennifer, Linda M, Linda RN, Tiffany, and the many staff at Amedisys Home Health Care and Oconee Home Health Care.
Jack will be cremated according to his wishes and there will be a service and gathering in Athens on February 9.
Memorial gifts may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or Congregation Children of Israel, 115 Dudley Dr., Athens, GA 30606.
