Jacqueline Janine Crist, a beloved mom, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, in Athens, Georgia, at the age of 68. She was born on March 27, 1956, in Kewanee, Ill., daughter of the late Lillian Jolly Harrison Crist and Ralph H. Crist.
Janine had a lifelong love for Atlanta, where she attended The Arlington Schools, Georgia State University, and University of West Georgia. She worked in various industries, spending the second half of her career in education and counseling, where she worked for Coweta County Schools in Newnan; the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and private tutoring firms such as BCG Learning Specialists in Atlanta. Her family and friends will remember Janine for her love of Arlington, the Harrison family, genealogy, books, movies, trips to the beach, and Irish culture.
Janine is survived by her devoted daughter, Carolyn; siblings: John Crist (Jean), Cathy Berggren (Brendan Hennessey), Sharee Crist, and Kevin Crist (Victoria); step-father, Rick Broome; nieces and nephews: Cristin Jordan Power (Davin), Erik Berggren, Sophia Crist, Draven Crist, and Jacqueline Crist; and grand-niece, Lillian Power and grand-nephew, Rory Power.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, February 14, at College Park Cemetery, 3600 N. Adams St., College Park, Georgia. Immediately following the service, a reception to celebrate her life will take place at Malone’s, 1258 Virginia Ave., Atlanta.
