Andy was born and raised in Schenectady, New York, where he attended local schools and graduated from Burnt Hill Ballston Lake High School and went on to attend Alfred State College. Andy lived in Hartwell, Georgia for more than 15 years, before moving to the Athens area six years ago. While in Hartwell, Andy owned and operated Andrews' Coffee Shop and worked with Elberton Memorial Hospital. He also worked in the HVAC industry for many years.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, James William and Carolyn Miles Chapin.
He is survived by his daughter, Monica Loera and her husband, James of Statham; and brother, W. Scott Chapin and his wife, Patricia of Charlotte, NC.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
