A native of Rison, Arkansas, Dr. Greene was a son of the late James Thomas Greene Sr. and Vida Stover Greene. He was a decorated World War II veteran; member of the Hamilton Masonic Lodge; retired Professor of Forest Genetics at the University of Georgia, and was the widower of Annie Mae Massengale Greene.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay Lynn Greene of Watkinsville and Kathy Anne Messer of Winterville and one grandson, James Thomas Christopher Greene III.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dr. Greene was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tamara Alicia Messer.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 8 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 7 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
