

After living a full life and enriching the lives of others, Jennifer “Jen” Reines Williams, 62, of Athens, Georgia, passed on August 17, 2026. Born December 9, 1963, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of Hera Ginsburg Reines and the late Alvin J. Reines.
Jen built a distinguished career in public service, especially in service to education as Senior Director of Communications for the Mary Frances Early College of Education at the University of Georgia. During her 15 years at the Early College, Jen made a lasting impact on the community through her leadership, dedication, and commitment. Colleagues will miss her collaborative spirit, warmth, and the kindness she extended to everyone around her.
Jen is survived by her husband, David Williams; her daughter, Rara Reines; her mother, Hera Ginsburg Reines; her sister, Kip Reines Hatcher; and her brother, Adam J. Reines.
Those who knew Jen will remember the graceful and caring way she moved through the world. She found joy in spending time with her friends, often gathering others around food she lovingly prepared. Jen tended a beautiful and vibrant garden filled with butterflies and centered on her favorite flowers, including peonies and gardenias. She loved to travel, and especially enjoyed spending time in Italy where she nourished her great appreciation of art.
Jen will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Her family invites local community members to an open visitation gathering to celebrate Jen’s life, which will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home in Athens, GA.
A memorial service will be held in Cincinnati.
