A native of Jacksonville, FL, Mr. Royal was a son of Connie Hanner Royal Dozier and the late Robert Banks Royal. He was a member of the fencing team at the Paralympics in Sydney, Australia and was a rabid Georgia Bulldog fan.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include wife, Stephanie Royal of Athens; daughter, Emily Shane Royal of Athens; brothers, Allen Royal, David Dozier, Jimmy Dozier and Jesse Parrish; sisters, Debbie Parrish and Linda Hand.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
