

A native of Kearny, New Jersey he was the son of the late John and Anna Norvaisia Gelczis. Mr. Gelczis served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and retired from the State of New Jersey as an Administrative Analyst with the Division of Developmental Disabilities. He was a parishioner of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a member of Young at Heart. He was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, NY Giants, and loved fishing and golf.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Ursula Nakrosis Gelczis of Athens, daughters Nancy Walton and husband Dr. Gary Walton of Athens, Virginia Gelczis and husband Mitchell Diamond of Sunnyvale, CA, Lisa Gelczis and husband Tyler Williams of Flagstaff, AZ and Erica Gelczis of Athens; son Matthew Gelczis of Pittsburgh, PA; sister Ruth Peters and husband Edmund of Calabash, NC; grandchildren Gabriel and Molly Diamond and Nicholas Walton.
Funeral services will be 12pm (Noon) Friday, December 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father David McGuinnis officiating. Interment will be in the Honey Creek Woodlands Cemetery in Conyers at a later date.
The family will receive friends at Bernstein on Thursday, December 1, from 5-7 pm.
