He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Overholt Holeman; children, Delwin Holeman (Melody), Kathleen Mihai (Alex) and David Holeman (Michelle); sister, Lorene Fine; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
John was born in Drumright, OK on August 6, 1925 to John and Vida Louise Harvel Holeman. (10 sisters and one brother.) He served in WWII in the 44th Infantry Division during their campaign in France.
He attended Warner Pacific College and went on to Seminary at Anderson College where he earned his Master of Divinity. John married Beatrice Overholt on August 16, 1952 and they raised three children together. He was a pastor for over 25 years, and worked for the Warner Press as a Sales Representative from age 55 to 80.
He's best remembered for his love of travel, history and the way he cared about all the members of his family.
One of John’s pleasures and special talents was playing the piano. He also had a beautiful tenor voice. He used these talents to direct the choir in some of his pastorates.
As he got older, he would go to nursing homes to sing and encourage the elderly patients there and also would play for his Sunday school class every Sunday. Mom and Dad were happily involved in their large senior’s class at their church in Stone Mountain, GA.
John took several trips to help with Christian missions in Guatemala, Nicaragua and Mexico. He also was a faithful supporter of his daughter and son-in-law’s ministry in Romania where he is remembered very fondly by the people of the church there.
