A native of Thomasville, GA, John was a son of Jean Lois Lee McCormick of Athens and the late Ira Hines McCormick Jr. He served in the United States Navy, owned a small business accounting practice, and was a member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his companion of 35 years, Susan Elizabeth McCormick; their children, Erin "Scout" McCormick of Chimney Rock, NC; Alex McCormick (Susan) of Athens; C.J. McCormick (Stephanie) of Social Circle; brothers, Henry Lee "Hank" McCormick (Bonnie) of Cumming and Daniell Brian McCormick of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Caiden McCormick, Brooklann Thompson and Scarlett McCormick.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 24, from 6-8 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home.
