Judith Hood Barr

A native of Hubbard, OH, Ms. Barr was a daughter of the late Lyle Hood and Virginia Ryan Hood. She was a graduate of Athens Technical College where she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Ms. Barr worked as an administrative assistant at the University of Georgia and was a longtime member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering at the annual conference of the North Georgia United Methodists and was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her granddog, Stewie.

Survivors include children, Amanda Barr of Athens and Jason Barr of Gales Ferry, CT; a granddaughter, Victoria Hayward-Barr; and several cousins.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 31, at 11:00 a.m., at Chapelwood United Methodist Church with Revs. Blair Tolbert and Gil McGinnis officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

The family asks that those attending the service wear purple, which was Ms. Barr's favorite color and also a mask or face covering.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 100 Janice Drive, Athens, GA 30606.
