Judith "Judy" Kay Elmore

Born in Park City, KY, Judy was the daughter of Harry Curtis Elmore and Mary Shaw Elmore. Judy was a Registered Nurse, and earned her RN degree from The University of Louisville and worked at St. Anthony’s and Louisville General in Louisville, KY. She also worked at St. Vincent’s and U of A, both in Birmingham, AL. Judy finished her career in Athens, retiring from Piedmont Athens Regional.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by a son, James Phillip Comer, and sisters Wini Shaw King of Glasgow, KY, and Margaret Branstetter of Charleston, SC.

She is survived by her beloved sister, Willie Mae McGinley of Athens, GA; brother, Rodger Elmore of Glasgow, KY; nephews William “Chip” McGinley (Lori) of Jefferson, GA, and Wes Elmore of Glasgow, KY, niece, Katy Elmore Minton of Glasgow, KY, great niece Mara Michelle McGinley of Jefferson, GA, and other great niece and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Oconee Hill Cemetery on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Athens Humane Society in memory of Judy and her huge heart for animals.
