Kristine A. Wilson, 76, of Bogart, GA, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023. She was born in Greenville, SC, and was the daughter of the late Clara McCravy and James Rudolph Adams. She was preceded in death by a son, Warren Julian Wilson.
Being raised by her mother, she lived in Athens for a short while and attended Chase Street Elementary School. She later attended Duluth High School and graduated from South Hall High School in Oakwood, GA. She returned to Athens in 1996 when her husband became affiliated with Bernstein Funeral Home. She was employed by the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine for a short while before joining her husband in the operation of Bernstein. She was instrumental in starting the LIFT (Living Information for Today) program, which was sponsored by the funeral home. She was a member of the Athens Elks Lodge Auxiliary, the Gideons Auxiliary, and the Daughters of the American Revolution before declining health hindered participation.
She strongly supported AIDS Athens, the Northeast Georgia Food Bank, and her beloved Georgia Bulldogs. She was a former member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and is currently a member of the Athens First Baptist Church.
She leaves behind Sonny, her steadfast husband of 58 years, and their daughters, Rebecca Ellen Wilson of Perry and Normanda Claire Wilson of Bogart. She was also blessed with two granddaughters, Anna Claire Wilson (Christian Lowe) of Bogart and Claire Abigail McDow (Emmett McDow) of Sunnyvale, CA. She held a special bond with Penny Watson, who kept her company daily.
A memorial service will take place in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home in Athens at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, led by Mr. Kevin Marable and Rev. Travis Richardson. Visitors are welcome to arrive early at 1:30 p.m. The memorial service will be live-streamed at Facebook.com/BernsteinFuneral. She will find her eternal rest at Perry Memorial Gardens the following Monday, July 10 at 2:00 p.m. The family asks that attendees come in casual attire.
In place of floral tributes, the family kindly requests contributions to AIDS Athens/Live Forward, 2500 West Broad Street, Suite 300, Athens, GA 30606, or the Northeast Georgia Food Bank, 861 Newton Bridge Road, Athens, GA 30607.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation towards the Piedmont Athens Emergency Dept., the Piedmont Atlanta Neurological Unit, St. Mary’s Home Health, St. Mary’s Wound Clinic, St. Mary’s Hospice, and both CMT and Halifax Medical Transportation.
