

Gail Carver, 101, of Watkinsville, Georgia, passed away at his home November 10, 2025. He was born April 21, 1924, in Guthrie, Minnesota, to George L. and Laura A. (Thorstad) Carver, the fourth of nine children. He graduated from Brandt High School in Brandt, South Dakota, in 1942. He served in the Navy during WWII and was stationed in Hawaii. In 1952, Gail married Roberta Grosvenor, and they raised their family in the Chicago suburbs. They moved to Watkinsville in 1980.
Gail worked in production engineering and quality control in the manufacture of radios, smoke detectors, and microwave ovens. Gail and Roberta enjoyed square dancing and camping with their children. After he retired, Gail golfed, worked on jigsaw puzzles, enjoyed bowling with a league, and wrote about his life.
Gail is survived by his wife of 72 years, Roberta; his children, Catherine, Claudia, Douglas, and Rebecca Carver, and Margaret Olivastro; grandchildren, Kira Deyo, Brian, Justine, Jocelyn, Owen, and August Carver, and Susannah Couch; great-grandson Leo; brother Donavan Carver; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Klinghagen, Eleanor Peterson, and Elaine Poulson; and four brothers, Lynn, George, Lyle and Ron Carver.
He will be deeply missed.
At his request, no memorial service will be held.
