It is with sadness and heavy hearts, mixed with the joy of the remembrances of having shared a life with Lauren Lee DuBois, that we announce her passing. Lauren has fought off the impacts of her cancer with grit and determination, but finally and graciously left to be with her Savior Sunday afternoon, February 9, peacefully and painlessly with family around her.
Lauren has been surrounded all her life by a diverse and wonderful community of family and friends, coworkers and church members from Peace Community Church in Frankfort, Illinois and the Watkinsville, Georgia Faith Presbyterian Church. She has supported, led, encouraged and taught in every way possible throughout her journey. She led an incredibly full and productive life as a daughter and sister, having helped to form the lives of her difficult to corral brothers, to 3 wonderful children and as beloved “Mormor” to 5 exceptional grandchildren.
Lauren attended Knox college, lived for a time in Spain, and settled in Chicago to start her family. She began a career as a businesswoman and entrepreneur soon after having impacts wherever she went, as a leader in the growing software world, then to be a CEO of LNC, and later as a founder of a successful talent recruitment company. Finally, as a pivotal member in her churches, she showed the world her dedication to her faith in Jesus and His followers, in creating faith-based educational programs which have touched generations young and old.
Lauren moved to Bishop, Georgia with husband Mike, in part to begin her battles with cancer, understanding all along that there was a world beyond where she could help others with similar challenges to prepare for.
We all remember her as an outstanding chef, master of the paella pan, quilter and knitter, gardener, and keeper of the family storyline. Selections from her remarkable library of cookbooks and recipes are available to anyone carrying on her culinary traditions in Lauren’s honor.
Lauren was a daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, survived by her father Loran Nordgren Sr., husband Michael DuBois, daughters Maria Belen Tokarski, Rachel Lee Castellanos, son Andrew J Skeens, son-in-law Adam Tokarski, grandchildren Noah, Hannah and Joshua Tokarski, Olive and Miles Smith, and brothers Carl, Bob, Erik, Loran Nordgren and their families. She is preceded in passing by her mother Dollye Benson Nordgren.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 15 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 2191 Mars Hill Rd., Watkinsville, GA 30677. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM; service at 11:00 AM.
