She was born in Albany, Georgia on December 29, 1948. Lynn was a graduate of Albany High School, attended Brenau College where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, and graduated from the University of Georgia. She was an Elementary Education teacher in the Walton and Clarke County school systems until her retirement. She was involved in many civic activities and organizations including youth educational tutoring programs, Junior League of Athens, Rose and Dahlia Garden Club, Recording for the Blind, Hope Haven, Project Safe, and The Salvation Army. Lynn was a friend to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Mariwil Flanigan. She is survived by her husband of 55+ years, Thomas W. "Tommy" Bowden. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law (Steve and Rosemary Flanigan) of Marietta, as well as brother-in-law and sister-in-law (Bobby and Marilyn Bowden) of Athens.
A special “Thank You” is extended to the fantastic Memory Care team at St. Mary’s Highland Hills Village and St. Mary’s Hospice for their compassion, kindness and service during the past three years.
In keeping with Lynn’s wishes, a private burial is planned.
