Marilyn was born on October 21, 1940, a native of Madison, WI, and daughter of the late Oscar and Eleanor Damman. She is survived by her sons, Thomas James Elliot (Stephanie Holcombe, partner) of Athens, GA; Randolph Scott Elliot (Pamela Elliot, wife) of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Mary Anna Elliot, Aidan Christopher Elliot, and Ava Elizabeth; her sister, Marcia Johnson and brothers, Michael and Marc Damman.
Marilyn devoted herself with steady purpose to both home and work. She met her late husband, Robert Elliot, while working at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, WI. Following their marriage in 1961, they lived and traveled throughout the United States, eventually settling in Southern California, where she served as a bookkeeper for the family business, bringing to that role a clear mind and careful attention—skills that also reflected her sound judgment with investing and the practical wisdom of a capable businesswoman.
Throughout their life together, Marilyn was a steadfast source of support for her husband and sons, offering a dependable presence marked by loyalty, quiet strength, resilience and warm sense of humor. She found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved most—her husband, her two sons, and her three grandchildren.
Marilyn loved to cook and entertain, and she took pleasure in sewing, knitting, and crocheting—pursuits that spoke to her patience, care, and the satisfaction she found in creating something lasting. She also enjoyed traveling.
