Mary Nelms

A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Nelms was the daughter of the late Dayton and Nan Nunnally and was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 5 brothers. She was machine operator at Athena Carpet Mills and also ran a daycare. Mrs. Nelms was a member of Living Word Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, James W. Nelms; son, Gary Nelms and wife, Julia of Bogart; daughter, Gayla Creech and husband, Mike of Bogart; sister, Maudie Dalton of Jackson, GA; granddaughters, Jaime Stevens and husband, Michael of Fayetteville, NC and Jennifer Turnbull and husband, Tim of Glennville, GA, and great-granddaughters, Karley Stevens, Sydney Stevens, Chelsea Turnbull, Emma Turnbull, and Sara Turnbull.

Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, September 15th at Living Word Baptist Church with Rev Allen Crosby and Rev Crist Camden officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-9PM Wednesday, September 14th at Bernstein Funeral Home.
