Mary was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia and graduated from Richmond Academy. She went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree from the University of Georgia and was a member of the Kappa Delta Epsilon Sorority. Mary served as an elementary school teacher in Aiken County, SC for more than thirty years and was a member of the Presbyterian faith, attending Covenant Presbyterian, in Athens for several years. She was an avid bridge player and loved to work crossword puzzles.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas and Mary Rosella Partridge Clark; husband, Thomas Strom; and daughter, Roxanne Davis.
She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Kimmel and her husband, Richard of Augusta; Erika Brasco and her husband, Craig of Marietta; and Jacquelyn Iley and her husband, Brett of Bogart; sister Betty Fagler of Winter Haven, FL; six grandchildren, Jessica, Alex, Natalie, Tanner, Kyndall and Nicklaus.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 30, in the Chapel of Athens First United Methodist Church with Reverends Chuck Hodges and Martha Aenchbacher officiating.
