Merritt was a very dear and lifelong friend to my dad - like a brother in every way. Our prayers go out to the family.

So many things I want to say, now that it's too late. When I talked to you a few months ago, Merritt, it was to brief. So many memories of our times together. Golf at ACC and a few Killiams; tennis with Dan, when you and I played against him and he always brought in a ringer, like John Isner or John Roddick. I still remember most of your stories, like when you and Willie were supposed to be working on a fence on the farm and instead were just talking, and when Evelyn appears, Willie says "...Yin she comes!!!" and the two of you start working furiously. Our days playing at the indoor with Joe and Butch in the dead of winter. I won't ever forget the time we were locked into the Standard Club at midnight, after playing your two teamates Lyons Joel and Beryl Wiener, and we had to get somebody from the clubhouse to let us out. You'll remain in my memory as one of the most gregarious and fun-loving, but also the most loyal, people I've ever known. Requiescat in pace, my dear friend. Tony

A very inspiring and great Uncle he was to me. UGA football games will never be the same. As this is heart breaking for many, I'm sure he and my daddy are already tailgating and preparing for the next football season. My prayers to all. You are very loved and missed Uncle Colonel Pound.

Rarely in life is one introduced to a person who makes such a profound influence on so many. Colonel Pound is one of those who immediately impacted me with his kind, heartfelt welcome and strong handshake. Thank you for being a great mentor. From one brother in arms and former Det 160 Commander to another, you will be greatly missed. Ms. Evlyn, my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. God bless.
