Mildred Duncan Logan passed away peacefully at her home on August 13 at the age of 94. She was born and raised in Walton County, Georgia but resided in Athens for the last fifty years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Charles Henry Logan, who passed in 2015.
Mrs. Logan was a member of The First Baptist Church of Monroe, The First Baptist Church of Athens, and Prince Avenue Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Athens Country Club and many different Bridge clubs. One of her greatest joys was playing Bridge; she was a devoted competitor and greatly valued the friendships and partnerships she formed in these clubs.
Mrs. Logan held a deep commitment to her family and loved nothing more than having her family gather for celebrations and special occasions. She loved to cook, read on her back porch, travel, sit in her rocking chair at Lake Burton, work in her yard, and go to dinner with her close group of friends. She stayed busy and led an active life. She was incredibly smart, elegant, and opinionated—and she fought to stay with her family as long as she could. Mrs. Logan was the family matriarch and will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Logan was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Etta Duncan; her son, David Logan; and is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Wills and husband, Joe; son, Jeffrey Logan and wife, Priscilla; daughter, Kim Logan; and grandchildren: Lori Drake, Rachel Sulkowski, Charles Hollis, Logan Wills, Michael Logan, Megan Snelling, and Thomas Murphy; as well as six great-grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank the many dedicated women who cared for her these past years. We will forever be grateful for your help, advocacy, and love for her.
Mrs. Logan’s family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 17, at Bernstein Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will immediately follow in the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel.
Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
