

She was born May 15, 1925 in Williamson, WV, graduated from Williamson High School in 1943 and worked as a telephone operator during the War years. Mildred got her undergraduate degree from Marshall University and her Master’s degree from Ohio University. She taught high school in Mingo and Brooke counties in West Virginia, retired in 1987 and moved to Watkinsville, GA.
Mildred married Charles Clifford Wooten in 1946. They were married until his death in 2000.
Mildred is survived by her son, Charles C. Wooten Jr. and his wife, Hildegard; grandsons, Brian Morgan Wooten and John Christoph Wooten with Sarah; great-grandchildren, John Michael and Anna Wooten.
Mildred was a life member of the NEA and a national delegate to the NEA conventions.
She was a member of the Freeman Creek Baptist Church in Farmington, GA.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 23 from 12-1 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Farmington Cemetery.
