She was born in Elberton, GA to the late Thomas Dean Vaughn and Miley Annie Jones Vaughn. Her deep love of family and her love and faith in the Lord were always her strength, her compass and her guiding light.
She was born and grew up on a working farm where they grew and raised everything needed in life. After high school graduation, she moved to Athens where she met her future husband, Fred Blount, whose family owned Athens Boiler and Machine Works.
They were married for 40 years and blessed with five children. Jane was a devoted spouse and loving mother to one stepson, three sons and one daughter. She retired from the University of Georgia where she was secretary for Poultry Science Department for 40-plus years.
After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with the XYZ Senior Group at Prince Avenue Baptist Church. She loved visiting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the delight of her life.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Kathie Blount Nuss; her son, Terry Blount (Elaine); her son, Michael Blount (Cathy); her son, Kevin Blount; her sister, Ruth Vaughn Nash; her grandchildren, Anna, Rebekah, Michael, Beth, Gwenith and Teagan; her great-grandchildren, Michelle, Jennifer, Olivia, Noah, Bayleigh and Brenna; and several nieces and nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Blount; her sisters, Edith and Rachel; her stepson, Jimmy; and her grandson, Marc.
A graveside service will be held Friday, January 21, at 1:00 p.m., at Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev. Michael Blount officiating.
