Daddy, it has been almost a year now since you left us. Some said it would get easier but it is only getting harder, I miss you more than words can say. I still cant believe you are gone. I want to pick up the phone and call you but I cant. Life will never ever be the same, you were the glue that held us all together.......Dawn

Even though Dawn and I have not been married for many years, Jim Drake (and Jeanette) continued to treat me as part of the family. There was never a time when he did not welcome me into his home and I was always included as one of the family on special occasions. I don't know if that says anything about me---but it certainly says a lot about him! Every time I would visit he would say, "Steve, we have an empty bedroom, we wish you would stay with us". It seems there was never time---I'm sad to say. But I hope he knew how much it meant to me that he accepted me and cared for me. I never remarried so I still thought of Mr. Drake as my father-in-law. In a time where relationships seem to come with expiration dates and people change with the weather, I have been blessed with a relationship most divorced people can't understand. Thank you, Mr. Drake. I wish every "ex" son-in-law could have what I have had.

I wish I were standing beside him on this journey, just as I did as a little girl, singing "Take me out to the ballgame". <3

Mr. Jim was a good customer for many years. But more than that he was a good friend. We all enjoyed his stories and memories. He will be sorely missed. Our condolences to the family.

Jim's never having met a stranger is so true of this outstanding gentleman, as his warm and caring personality was always at the forefront. I had the good fortune to play shortstop on some of Jim's softball teams, and always found him to be fair, honest, supportive, and a friend. Athletics builds character, but more so it reveals character, and the character revealed in Jim was always of the highest order. He indeed made a positive difference in this life for others and will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers remains with all of you in Jim's family.
