Peggy Jo Stovall Barnett

Born in Hartwell, Mrs. Barnett was the daughter of the late Robert Douglas Stovall and Melvia Isom Stovall.

She was a longtime choir member at Mars Hill Baptist Church in Watkinsville and worked as a bar general manager of the Boar’s Head Lounge at the Downtowner Inn in Five Points. After retirement she also worked in the Oconee County School System as a cafeteria worker for a number of years at Oconee County Middle School. She also worked for the Oconee County Board of Elections as a volunteer election worker. She was a voracious reader and a dedicated Georgia Bulldogs football fan and Atlanta Braves baseball fan.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Cecil Barnett; sister, Jackie Crump; and a granddaughter, Savannah Barnett.

Survivors include children: Billy Barnett (Stacey), Pam Montague (Michael), Stacey Barnett-Koerts and Brad Barnett (Christy); brother, Douglas Stovall; sisters: Janet Vickery and Judy Bailey; grandchildren: Chris Anderson, Tammy Barnett-Cornelius (Bryson), Will Barnett, Phoenyx Barnett, Gavin Thurmond and Gryphon Thurmond; great-grandchildren: Riley Anderson, Amaya Howard, Tay Howard, Dakota Cornelius and Gage Dubose.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
