

A lifelong resident of Clarke County, he was the son of the late William and Rosa Morton Johnson and was also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Smith Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a longtime member of the Athens Choral Society and had served on the Athens Area Human Relations Council. He was a tailor for Howard Sanders Men’s Store and John Cunningham’s Men Clothing. He was a longtime member of the Athens First Baptist Church where he was a member of the church choir and was a weekly visitor of Wilson’s Soul Food for many years.
Survivors include his brother Farris T. Johnson, Sr. of Athens; nephews Dr. Farris T. Johnson, Jr. and wife Erin and Ralph Edward Johnson and wife Floretta all of Athens; great nieces and nephews Farris T. Johnson III, Adara Ervin, Nia Ervin, Julius Johnson and wife Rachel , Faith Johnson ,Alicia Johnson and a number of great great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday, July 13th at the Athens First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Baxley officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Mr. Johnson will lie in state from 10-11am and the family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 am at the church.
