

For fifteen years, Mr. Bell owned and operated VINTAGE, an antique shop in Normaltown. He also taught at the University of Georgia and Athens Technical College.
Mr. Bell held degrees in English from the University of North Carolina, the University of Iowa, and the University of Georgia, and also taught at Georgia Tech and Towson University in Maryland.
Before moving to Athens, Mr. Bell was in program administration, staff training, and public information with the state departments of Archives and History, Human Resources, Emergency Management, and with Medical Assistance where he helped develop the Community Care for the Elderly Program.
In Atlanta and Athens, Mr. Bell was a volunteer teacher for the Department of Corrections and the Clarke County Library. He also served on the Board of the North Clarke Civic Association.
Mr. Bell was the son of Seth Gordon Bell and Edith Brown Bell. He is survived by a brother, Robert Gordon Bell and his wife, Eunice H Bell of Savannah, GA; a nephew, Michael G Bell and his spouse, Dennis Drabelle of Washington, DC; nieces, Patricia L Vaughn of Birch Run, MI and her children and Nancy E Bell and her husband, Joseph Schneider of Sarasota Springs, NY and their children.
Plans for a memorial service are incomplete at this time.
