Obituary of Dr. Robert L. “Bob” Brugh
Dr. Robert L. “Bob” Brugh, 82, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022. He was born on August 1, 1939 in Petersburg, Virginia. He was the son of the late L.C. “Jim” Brugh and Virginia Ritchie Brugh. Bob earned his bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech, his master’s degree from Wichita State and his doctorate from Oklahoma State University. He was employed by various aircraft and aerospace companies during his career as an aeronautical engineer. He retired from RPK Corporation as President. During his retirement years, Bob worked at Bernstein Funeral Home for 15 years. He was an active member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church where he faithfully served as Deacon and Sunday school teacher. Bob served as Trustee on the International Mission Board for the Southern Baptist Convention. He also served on the Board of Directors for WMSL radio station. He was a longtime member of The Gideons International serving in multiple positions with his desire to spread the good news of Jesus’ love throughout the world. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, Benjamin Brugh. Survivors include his loving wife of almost 60 years, Jackie Brugh; children: L. Craig Brugh, Daniel R. Brugh and his wife, Jennifer, and their children: Tyler, Hunter, Clayton, Joana, Anna-Kate and Emma, Sherry Brugh Kurpis and her husband, Richard, of Warner Robins, and their children: Gavin and Samantha; his much-loved sisters of Dinwiddie, Virginia: Margie Barnes and her husband, Wayne, and Marian Abernathy. He also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces; and sister-in-law, Lydia Brugh. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be on his 83rd birthday, Monday, August 1, 2022, at 12 p.m., in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of the service Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers family requests memorial contributions to be made to The Gideons International at or Prince Avenue Baptist Church, 2131 Ruth Jackson Rd., Bogart, GA 30622, Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Brugh family. Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
