Mr. Lewis was born in Chattanooga, TN to the late Robert Hoyt Lewis and surviving mother, Martha Lewis. A graduate of Redbank High School, he had many fond memories of Chattanooga. He was most proud of his time in the Redbank volunteer fire department. Residing in Athens since the late 70s, he was a faithful DuPont employee for over 25 years, while also working in the family bookbinding business and spent the last 7 years of his working career at UGA as a steam plant operator. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include son, Kevin Lewis of Athens; daughter, Candice (Ryan) Meeler of Watkinsville; grandchildren, Mason and Abbey Meeler; sisters, Janet (Louis) Coite, Bobbie Lewis and Brenda (Terry) Carnes.
A small family celebration of his life will be held.
