A native of Washington, DC, Mr. Sykes was the son of the late Jack and Kathryn Hall Sykes. He was a retired manager with Wal-Mart and was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Judith M. Sykes; daughter, Debora L. King; son, Steven J. Sykes; sister, Marcy Sykes; brother, Melvin Sykes; brother, Johnny Sykes; brother, Leroy Sykes; granddaughter, Jennifer King; granddaughter Janie Stevenson and husband Robbie Stevenson; great granddaughter, Nataleigh Stevenson.
A memorial service will be held on 3PM Sunday, February 24th at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Athens with the Reverend Norbert Hahn, Ph.D. officiating.
