Robyn was predeceased by her parents, Robert G. and Linda Hayes Bush. She is survived by her dear Husky, Smokey Joe, and her beloved cat, Snoopy, and husband Matt Burgess; her brothers, Robert G. Bush Jr. and her niece Cailene with family Ashley and Clay of St. Augustine, FL; her brother Richard G. Bush of Brevard, NC ; her maternal Grandmother Juanita (Nita) Hayes or “Nana”; Uncle Thomas and Aunt Mary Bush with family Tom and Reid and their children; Uncle Ernest and Lucy Thibault, with family, Joanna, Lori and Graham and their children; Uncle Bruce and Aunt Linda Hayes; Uncle Larry Hayes with family Tracy and Toby and their children.
Robyn was born on December 13, 1968, in Bradenton, FL, where she attended Palma Sola Elementary School and King Middle School. The family moved to Jacksonville, FL where Robyn finished middle school and graduated from Wolfson High School in 1986, where she was active in the marching band’s Color Guard and played the oboe.
Robyn thrived at Jacksonville University, graduating in 1991 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Communications. She was very involved in her beloved sorority Alpha Epsilon Phi and was a very active supporter throughout her adult life.
She began her career path in the music industry in Tennessee. She then moved on to a successful career in Ad Sales and Operations at The Weather Channel in Atlanta, GA, where she made some lifelong relationships. She continued to be a dynamic marketing and sales leader in various positions in her lifetime focusing on advocating for seniors, veterans, and veterans’ family care. Robyn was integral part of launching a non-profit organization, Freedom Fidos, that trains support dogs for veterans and first responders in need.
Robyn was an avid music fan and lifelong student of music history. She recently attended the Girls Rock (Grown Ass’ed) Camp where at the age of 50, she learned the drums (an homage, perhaps, to her favorite band, Foo Fighters, and founder Dave Grohl, whom she held in high esteem).
Robyn is fondly loved and remembered for her wit, her gumption, her caring generosity, and infectious laugh. She was always looking forward to her next adventure and was the glue that kept many of her friend groups together throughout the years.
Robyn loved everything about the outdoors: hiking with Smokey, kayaking in Florida, and most definitely the BEACH, as evidenced by her large collection of shells. When you find yourself next on the sand, with the waves crashing cleanly on the shore, and the sense of peace drifting over you, think of Robyn, because she’ll be there!
