Sandra "Sandy" Wilson

Sandra "Sandy" Wilson, 79, of Doraville, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, at her sister's home on Lake Oconee. Born on February 23, 1947 in Atlanta, Sandy was the daughter of the late James V. Scaglione and Mildred Glass Scaglione.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wilson.

Sandy is survived by her children, Carrie Smith and husband, Ryan, and Chris Wilson and wife, Carrie; her sister, Linda Stanley and husband, Dwight; her grandchildren, Ryan Dixon, Jr., and Lauren Smith, Aaron Winchester and wife, Leen, Stacie and Grayson Winchester; and her great-grandchildren, Malik and Ace.

Sandy was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, educator, and woman of deep Christian faith who passed away after a courageous battle with glioblastoma.

For over 35 years, she faithfully served the students and families of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School as a beloved teacher. She had a remarkable gift for making every child feel special, capable, and loved.

Although being a Librarian/Media Specialist was her calling, her greatest joy was her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She treasured every conversation, laugh, hug, and memory they shared. She was a constant source of love, encouragement, comfort, and support to those closest to her.

She was known for her generosity and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen, heard, valued, and loved. Her warmth and kindness brightened every room, and people were naturally drawn to her genuine care for others.

She also knew how to celebrate life. She loved dancing, laughing, spending time with friends, and creating memories with the people she cherished. Her joy was contagious, her smile could light up a room, and her words often brought comfort exactly when someone needed it most.

Throughout her illness, she faced every challenge with extraordinary strength, faith, and grace. Her beloved sister, Linda, remained faithfully by her side, offering constant love, comfort, and unwavering support. Linda’s husband, Dwight, also provided kindness, compassion, and steadfast care throughout her appointments, treatments, difficult days, and moments of hope. Together, Linda and Dwight walked beside her throughout her journey, bringing her strength, comfort, and peace. Their extraordinary devotion and selfless care will always be remembered with profound gratitude.

She will be deeply missed every day, forever loved, and always remembered.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 7, at 1:45 p.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 2855 Briarcliff Road NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30329.
