Colette was born in Athens, Georgia. She grew up in Athens, graduated from Athens High School, and attended the University of Georgia. She lived in Athens, Watkinsville, Dunwoody, and Suwanee over the years. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was courageous, amazingly resilient, and always positive even when facing the toughest challenges in recent years.
Colette was the daughter of Lona Belle Smith Parsons and Chester O. Parsons Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Ford Harben, her son, Scot Harben, and her brothers, Chester Parsons Jr. and Ed Parsons.
She is survived by son, Steven Harben, daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Mike Mahaffey, grandchildren, Meredith Mahaffey and Eric Mahaffey, and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park, on Thursday, February 23 at 2:00 PM.
