A native of Roanoke, AL, Mrs. Benton was a daughter of the late Nealy and Lois Knight Sharman. She was a devoted member of Young Harris Memorial United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, James M. Benton Sr.; son, James M. Benton Jr.; daughter, Sarah Childs and one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include daughters, Adriaan Sharman Finnerman (Sam) and Deborah Benton Holish (Steve); sisters, Brenda Sharman and Yvonne Kerns; grandchildren, Moses and Noah Finnerman and Michael Ramunno.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 12 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Revs. David Wofford and Michele May officiating. Private interment will be at Oconee Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
