Born in Grady County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Clarence Laing and Bertha Sarah Adeline Reagan Laing. She was also preceded in death by her husband Rev. John Henry Davidson, Jr, son Douglas Daryl Davidson, granddaughter Sarah Ansley Davidson, foster son Charles R. Sykes, brother Hugh Laing and sister Hazel Mason.
Mrs. Davidson was a graduate of Mercer University and was a retired educator with the Clarke County Schools. She was a minister’s wife serving in numerous churches in the Athens area and a member of the Athens First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter in law John H. Davidson, III and Jan Kesler Davidson; daughter Vivian Davidson Egan; daughter in law Melanie Davidson Hixon; sister Louise Singletary; grandchildren Justin Davidson, Lauren Thompson and husband Scotty, Mike Egan, John Egan and wife Olivia and Sarah Egan.
Funeral services will be 2pm Monday, July 21st, at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Granger officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Bernstein from 6-8 pm Sunday, July 19.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the On Going Mission Program, Athens First Baptist Church, 355 Pulaski Street, Athens, Georgia 30601.
