He was born August 5, 1949, in Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles R. Gerard and Edith Klapper Gerard.
Steve was an active member of the Jackson County Baptist Church where he taught the Men’s Sunday School Class and was the director of the Men’s Prayer Breakfast. He loved cooking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Gerard; three children, Sarah Mobley and her husband, Tim, Stephanie Ogle and her husband, John and Matthew Gerard and his wife, Priscilla; brother, George Gerard and his wife, Doris; nine grandchildren, Megan Sheridan, her husband, Blake, Wade Ogle, Jeremy Ogle, Cody Gerard, Alexis Gerard, Jarrett Ogle, Austin Gerard, Jackson Ogle and Ashlyn Gerard; and his beloved Basset Hound, Copper.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be 1 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2022, at the Jackson County Baptist Church, 79 Memorial Drive, Jefferson, Georgia 30549 with Pastor Matt Booher and Dr. Jack Lawson officiating.
Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the church.
Pallbearers will be members of Steve’s Sunday school class, Freddie Smith, David Wood, Tim Land, Darrell Hogan, William Elrod, Jerry Ferguson, Charles Crow and Gary Hill.
