Terri Leigh Farmer
December 18, 1958 – January 8, 2021
Terri Leigh Farmer, 62, of Athens, GA passed away on January 8, 2021.
She was the eldest child of Marilyn Wade Farmer and the late Leon Farmer Jr., and eldest granddaughter of the late Harry and Bernice Wade and late Leon “Sarge” and Eloise Farmer. She was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Lisa Rene Alexandra Farmer.
Terri was a native daughter of Athens. She attended Athens Academy, where she played basketball, and graduated from Clarke Central High School in 1976. She continued her education at the University of Georgia. She enjoyed a modeling career in Atlanta, and subsequently transitioned into a career in real estate, working for Grayson Realty in Watkinsville, among others. She later opted to stay at home to raise her daughter, with whom she loved to travel to the beach and Disney World, while raising her in Jackson County. She was a proud owner and rescuer of several Samoyed dogs throughout her life.
Of all her accomplishments, Terri was most proud of raising her daughter, Dr. Therese Farmer Anderson, a pediatrician and internist, who practices at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to her daughter, Therese, and son-in-law, Ryan, who care for her beloved service dog, Eli, she is survived by her mother, Marilyn Wade Farmer; her sister, Joni (Corey) Ingram; her brother, Leon (Rebecca) Farmer III; her uncle, Harry (Janice) Wade, and her nieces and nephews, Philip (Emily) Frobos, David (Stephanie) Frobos and son Mason, Susan (Trey) Kemp, Beau Farmer, and Brooke Farmer.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to SamUrgency, Inc., a Samoyed rescue organization (PO Box 184, Haralson, GA 30229), or the Piedmont Athens Regional Foundation.
