Theresa Agnes Cline Klein, 93, died peacefully on October 8, 2012. She was born in Atlanta on May 23, 1919, the daughter of the late Peter M. and Theresa Erskine Cline. She grew up on Gordon Street in West End and graduated from Sacred Heart School in Atlanta and Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. On September 3, 1942, she married James Wenceslaus Klein of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During the early years of their marriage they lived in Augusta and Aiken, SC. In 1956 they moved to Athens and established their home on South Milledge Avenue. They celebrated fifty years of marriage in 1992.
In 1960 Mrs. Klein and her husband, founded Adjustco, Inc. where she served as secretary/treasurer. She attended Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Newman Center. Mrs. Klein was an avid golfer and enjoyed many rounds with her friends at the Athens Country Club. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who will be remembered for her devotion to family, her zest for life, and her vibrant spirit.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years and her brother, Robert E. Cline. She is survived by her son, James Robert Klein, Sr. and his wife, Brenda, of Athens. She has two grandchildren, Catherine Klein Denham (David) and James Robert Klein, Jr., and one great-grandchild, Eleanor Catherine Denham, all of Athens.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 11, at 2 p.m. at Oconee Hill Cemetery officiated by Dr. Glenn Doak. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Sexton’s House.
